In April 2012, the European Union placed Seyed Ali Asghar Mir Hejazi on the human rights sanctions list, for his role in widespread and severe violations of the rights of Iranian citizens. According to this decision, Mir Hejazi will be barred from entering the countries of this union and all his assets in Europe will be confiscated. The EU statement emphasised on Mir Hajazi’s role in "planning the suppression of the 2009 protests" by the order of Ali Khamenei.
The US Treasury Department also placed Mir Hejazi on its human rights sanctions list in June 2013 for reasons similar to those of the European Union. Accordingly, Seyed Ali Asghar Mir Hejazi's assets in the United States or in the possession of American companies and banks will be seized and he will be barred from entering the country.
